Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop
What’s the Buzz on Beekeeping?
Join us for a day of learning all about the amazing European honey bee Apis Mellifera. We will cover everything you need to know to start your beekeeping journey. We will cover honeybee basics. You will learn about the types of bees that live in a colony, their life cycle, what their roles are and how they communicate. Beekeeping equipment and hive types, and what you need to start your first hive in addition to how to do inspections is thoroughly covered. Honey production, seasonal management, and pest management are also covered. In the afternoon you will be provided with PPE and we will visit the apiary where you will get a hands on look into a colony full of buzzing bees and have your photo taken holding a frame if you are brave enough.
