The Bees are Buzzin!

Here at Just Bee Cuz Honey Farm, all of our girls are vey busy collecting nectar, gathering pollen, and of course our Queens are very busy laying eggs so that the colonies can grow in size. We had a very busy spring. We built a new shed for all of our wooden hive boxes and equipment. We repaired and painted anything that needed a fresh coat, we planted more flowers in our perennial beds and made sure to prune all of our fruit trees to ensure the blossoms were plentiful so that nectar would be nearby for the bees.

In May we hosted a Bee Crafty Workshop day where the participants learned how to make beeswax food wrappers, beeswax candles, honey/oatmeal artisan soap and a beautiful fused glass piece of art. It was a busy day and the lunch was delicious. We also hosted our annual Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop. Five persons were in attendance and they all earned their “Beekeeping Wings” patch for their beekeeping suits. Bee Nana Fran, did a presentation at the Richmond Retirement residence at the end of May. The residents had a ton of fun, tasted from fresh from the hive honey, and learned a lot about honeybees. We are in the midst of finishing up plans for our Youth Beekeeping Workshop for persons 12-18 years which will take place in mid July. Watch our social media for those dates. We are always busy here at the farm. If you have a larger group and want to visit, reach out to us and we can chat about how we can customize our tour to meet your needs.
